Manager: Service Payment Solutions & Partnerships
As part of your portfolio as Manager: Service Payment Solutions & Partnerships you will be:
- The Manager: Service Payment Solutions and Partnerships is responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing innovative payment use cases across multiple key services sectors including Transport, Health, Education, Agriculture, and others.
- This role focuses on understanding industry-specific payments requirements & challenges, conceptualizing tailored payment solutions, and fostering strategic partnerships with external companies to ensure the successful execution of these payment solutions.
- The role requires deep market insights, technical understanding of payment platforms, and a strong partnership network to drive sustainable growth and achieve the objectives of Group Fintech.
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement as medium to long-term strategy for Service Payments solution building & partnerships within Fintech
- Lead as per guidance end to end strategy implementation and ensure effective execution in line with Business objectives.
- Translate Service Payments strategy into operational initiatives and plans and drive execution
- Cascade and communicate overall payments Strategy and Business Plan
- Drive growth of payments and transactions within the Fintech and adjacent sectors
Operational Delivery
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify emerging trends and pain points in key sectors such as Transport, Health, Education, Agriculture, etc., to uncover new opportunities for payment solutions
- Work with cross-functional teams, including research, marketing, and product development, to gather market insights and customer feedback for creating relevant, innovative payment use cases
- Develop relevant payment use cases across key verticals and sectors Including Transport, Health, Education, Agric amongst others
- Translate sector-specific business requirements into technical specifications that guide the payment solution development lifecycle
- Support in the development of tailored payment solutions that align with the specific needs of various verticals, ensuring they provide sector specific value and meet regulatory standards
- Identify and build partnerships with relevant external companies, technology vendors, and service providers to support the successful implementation of the payment solutions
- Support negotiations and help establish strategic alliances, joint ventures, or collaborations with key players within each sector to ensure a seamless roll-out of payment solutions
- Foster relationships with regulatory bodies, government agencies, and industry leaders to ensure compliance and integration with broader industry initiatives
- Develop go-to-market strategies for new payment solutions, working closely with the sales, technology, and support teams to ensure successful commercialization
- Lead pilot programs or proof-of-concept projects for payment solutions, collecting insights for further refinement before broader market deployment
- Oversee product rollouts, managing timelines, stakeholder communication, and launch strategies to ensure smooth transitions from development to live implementation
- Support Opcos to establish and manage service partnerships across different verticals
- Lead co-promotion initiatives with key service partners across various Opcos
- Drive payment revenue, profitability and user uptake through relevant partnerships and alliances
- Support Opcos to develop and implement Go to market strategies to drive performance across all Service payment sectors
- Drive increase in the number of users, usage and revenue within the Service Payments ecosystem
- Drive collaboration and partner initiatives / projects in Service Payments
- Ensure alignment of initiatives undertaken in the function to the overall Group Fintech Payments strategy
- Initiate and support with implementation of offers / promotions in collaboration with partners across various Opcos
- Provide periodical input around budgets and performance reporting as and when required
- Keep abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and industry trends related to digital payments across different verticals to ensure compliance and competitive edge
- Advise internal teams on sector-specific regulations (e.g., data privacy, payment security standards) to ensure payment solutions are compliant and maintain best practices
- Stay updated on technological advancements in the fintech space (e.g., APIs, blockchain, mobile payments) to ensure solutions are cutting-edge and future-proof
The “Must-haves” we look for in an incumbent
Education:
- 4-year Business Administration, Sales, Technology, Operations (or related) Degree
- Master’s in Business Administration is advantageous
Experience:
- 5 or more years of relevant work experience in Fintech Operations / Technology / Commercial / Products Development
- At least 3 years’ experience within a Payments ecosystem
- Team Management of different stakeholders across different verticals in African markets
- Prior experience in Product Development & Implementation in a Fintech Company preferred.
- Experience at the management level in the financial sector
- Experience working in a medium to large organization
- Deep understanding of the Fintech ecosystem, players, business models and industry related best practices
- Experience working across global locations/ regions and have a grasp of political, social, infrastructure and integrity challenges.
- Understanding emerging markets advantageous
- Willing and flexible to travel within Africa and Middle East
- English speaker. French language being an added advantage
