YOUR ROLE
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and supervision of the quality team working in an analytical – and micro laboratory to ensure the production process and products consistently meets Doehler and customer quality‑ and food safety standards. These duties include the development and implantation of quality control testing, inspecting products at various stages and writing reports documenting production issues. Responsible for executing tasks in line with the plant's quality and food safety management systems and collaborating on continuous improvement initiatives to uphold and enhance established quality standards. Foundational knowledge of quality and food safety standards, some experience or education in manufacturing or production quality assurance, and the ability to monitor and maintain quality processes within a plant setting. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- The development and optimization of specialized quality and food safety management systems tailored to the plant's unique processes and challenges
- Provide expert insights and guidance on intricate quality management issues, ensuring rigorous adherence to standards
- Mentor and coach plant quality staff in advanced quality management techniques and methodologies
- Drive in-depth analysis of quality management data, identifying complex trends and recommending strategic improvements
- Oversee and manage specialized quality projects, ensuring objectives are met and value is delivered
- Stay abreast of industry advancements and best practices
- Lead critical root cause analysis sessions for major quality deviations, ensuring comprehensive solutions are implemented
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging specialized knowledge to promote innovation in quality management practices
- Apply the divisional strategy within the area of responsibility
- Integrating new employees into the workflow and team. Promote team spirit.
- Ensure optimal information exchange within the team and with the interfaces.
- Setting impulses for continuous standardization and optimization of processes and organizational structures as well as implementation of corresponding measures in coordination with the manager.
- Contributing ideas and implementing the digital transformation in the area of responsibility.
- Coordinating and implementing digitization of projects in cooperation with the interfaces. Optimizing and mapping new and existing business processes in the digital database and systems.
- Adhere to the approved budget and initiate appropriate action on impending and identified variances in coordination with manager.
- Comply with legal requirements and internal regulations.
- Documenting efficient and effective processes in the company’s internal IT systems
- Working according to deadlines for the delivery of products
- Training and managing production line staff in production practices and quality assessment of goods
- Performing detailed and recorded inspections of final products so the products are up to industry and company standards
- Eliminating products that are not up to standards and finding the reasons for product problems
- Monitoring of quality received, decision making on storability and/ or marketing.
- Administration, maintenance, and accurate record keeping of product quality and compliance data.
- Control of daily procedures and processes critical to product quality and safety.
- Compiling of daily, weekly, monthly and seasonal reports on quality and quality related information and ensuring validations are done on time as per the validation schedule
- Presenting reports to Management and Procedures as per meeting schedule.
- Management of QC staff and their shift schedules
- Training and skills development in the QA department
- Assist with Trials in the Quality Department.

YOUR EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Quality Management is the practice of ensuring that products and services meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with relevant standards and regulations. It involves planning, implementing, monitoring, training and improving processes and systems that affect quality. The successful candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in a similar role in a Food Manufacturing Facility, must be trained and experience on SAP, Computer Literate, own transport and must preferably reside in the Winelands District.
