Job description

The university seeks to employ a skilled, knowledgeable and resourceful individual to manage a set of facilities that is comprised mainly of modern, state of the art buildings that are dedicated to the scientific disciplines. It wishes to ensure that the precinct is managed to global standards in terms of technology and relevant legislation, and to ensure ongoing support for the building occupant’s requirements.

The post assumes responsibility for:

  • Coordination, control, and management of building infrastructure and building services within a precinct
  • Electrical maintenance services
  • HVAC maintenance services
  • Laboratory services, incl. gas and other piped services
  • Management of small projects in areas as specified above
  • SLA management
  • Maintain professionalism with all UWC stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective, reliable and cost- efficient responses for precinct requirements
  • Coordinate team activities ( in house staff, contractors and consultants)
  • Ensure effective Financial Management and reporting
  • Manage building access
  • B Tech degree or equivalent at NQF 7 (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Quantity Surveying )
  • 5-8 years’ recent experience in the maintenance of building infrastructure
  • Valid drivers’ license (2 years driving experience) .
  • Supervisory experience of 3 years
