Overview

South African National Parks (SANParks) invites applications for a Fixed Term Contract position for 5 years from suitably qualified and experienced persons to manage and coordinate SANParks Infrastructure Portfolio. This position reports to the Managing Executive: Parks for the management of the infrastructure and green energy programmes for Parks Division and for ensuring compliance with legislation and reporting requirements through the development of relevant infrastructure policies, standard operating procedures and plans for the organisation.

Location: Groenkloof National Park (Head Office)

Remuneration: all-inclusive cost to company salary, pitched at Grade E1. The allowances and benefits are as specified in the HR Tariff Document and Conditions of Services of SANParks.

Responsibilities
  • Effective financial management of Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and Infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for an accounting system to provide accurate and timely financial information and reconciliations.
  • Develop, enhance, implement and enforce internal control systems.
  • Manage project-specific audits, internal and external audits for projects.
  • Responsible for the submission of progress payment reports and financial information.
  • Manage and maintain a record system of financial documentation.
  • Maintain an up-to-date fixed asset register and manage inventory.
  • Oversee Supply Chain Management function for the unit.
  • Manage the budget and finances for the unit.
  • Lead and develop unit finance staff.
  • Liaison with funders and role-players.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • B. Com Degree in Accounting / bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent registration.
  • Registration with a professional body will be an added advantage.
  • Five to seven years’ experience in finance.
  • Experience in financial accounting, audits, financial management of projects.
  • Understanding the Public Finance Management Act and National Treasury regulations.
  • Experience of working with Great Plains or other financial accounting packages.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Microsoft Office software competency.
