Key Performance Outputs

The successful candidate will be reporting to the Senior Manager Quality Control and Assurance and will be responsible but not limited to the following:

  • Facilitate and oversee environmental impact assessments, management plans and environmental management programmes to ensure airport compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Provide strategic direction to the business by implementing models that increase efficiencies and operational standards of excellence.
  • Manage the Airport’s risk exposure through identifying, implementing, and maintaining risk control measures to minimise the Airport’s liability.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of organisational standards, policies, and procedures within the span of control and monitor implementation to ensure full compliance.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide environmental design input to the infrastructure development team to ensure compliance with regulatory and project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, international, local, and company standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Compile and submit reports to the relevant manager on non-conformances, risks, and remedial actions as identified in compliance inspections and audits.
  • Review final Environmental incident investigation reports and ensure that corrective action is implemented.
  • Create, develop, and implement green initiatives for the airport as well as ensure compliance with relevant standards, authorisations, permits, and certifications.
  • Manage Contractor Performance according to the Service Level Agreement.
  • Build, support, and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external relationships to ensure achievement of organisational goals.
  • Provide input into workforce planning and implement approved labour plans to ensure the team is suitably staffed to meet sub-functional objectives.
  • Implement and effectively manage the environmental operational budgets and capital expenditure projects.
  • Participate and contribute to the development and implementation of the environmental management strategy for the LA Mercy Joint Venture.
  • Build, maintain effective relationships and liaise with relevant authorities and surrounding communities on relevant projects or programmes.

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such will be required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management/Related Field.
  • 3-5 years Operational Environmental Management Experience.
  • 3 years Management /Supervisory experience is recommended.
