Job summary

Pick n Pay Retailers in South Africa seeks an experienced Bakery Supervisor to manage daily bakery production, quality, and stock, while driving margins and guest satisfaction.

The role requires 2–3 years in bakery, a Matric, and knowledge of food safety, with responsibilities spanning staff supervision, scheduling, waste control, and reporting.

Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and a strong customer service focus will help ensure freshness, presentation, and consistent sales in-store.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ experience in a bakery environment, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
• Good numerical, administrative, and reporting skills.
• Computer literacy and experience with retail systems will be an advantage.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.

Job description

It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing! To manage all aspects of hygiene and safety within the Bakery Department. Manages production process and stock in order to maximise gross margins and profits. Ensures that operating standards are maintained.

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.

A qualification in Bakery Management, Food Technology, or a related field will be an advantage.

Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in a bakery environment, preferably in a supervisory or management role.

Strong knowledge of bakery products, ingredients, baking processes, and production techniques.

Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations.

Experience in stock control, ordering, receiving, and managing wastage.

Ability to manage staff, prepare work schedules, and monitor performance.

Good numerical, administrative, and reporting skills.

Computer literacy and experience with retail systems will be an advantage.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
