Job Specification: Management Accountant

Location: Cape Town, South Africa

Reports To: Head of Finance

About Our Client

Our Client is a dynamic group of companies operating primarily in property development. The Management Accountant will be a key member of the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting across multiple group entities and providing insights to support strategic decision‑making.

Role Purpose

The Management Accountant is responsible for processing financial information for the group, ensuring that month‑end procedures and processes are completed accurately, and preparing management accounts on a monthly basis. This role will provide critical financial insights to support business decisions and assist the finance team with analyses, reporting, and ad‑hoc projects as required.

Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-3 years' experience in accounting or management accounting (ideally within property development)
  • Proficiency in Xero is essential; experience with Smartsheets and QuickBooks is advantageous
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts for all entities within the group
  • Ensure month‑end close procedures are completed accurately and on time
  • Process and reconcile financial transactions across multiple entities
  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasts, and variance analysis
  • Support financial reporting, including key performance metrics for management
  • Provide ad hoc analyses and assist with special finance projects as needed
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and statutory requirementsds
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with audit preparation
  • Liaise with other departments to gather financial information and provide actionable insights
