We are seeking a high-performing Major Account Executive to drive strategic growth within the South African retail sector.
This role is ideal for a commercially driven sales professional with a strong track record in managing major retail accounts and selling data, insights, or information-based solutions. The successful candidate will build and expand relationships with key retail clients, identify new revenue opportunities, and position the organisation's credit risk solutions as essential components of the retail value chain.
Account Management & Growth: Own and grow a portfolio of major retail accounts (non-negotiable requirement).
Develop and execute account strategies to achieve revenue targets and maximise customer lifetime value.
Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing retail client‑base.
Business Development: Acquire new enterprise retail clients, leveraging deep knowledge of retail operations and risk management workflows.
Build a strong network of decision-makers across the retail ecosystem (C-suite, credit, risk, finance, operations).
Sales Execution: Deliver compelling value propositions and solution presentations tailored to retail environments.
Conduct needs analysis, develop proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and close high-value deals.
Maintain accurate sales pipeline and forecasting in Salesforce (CRM proficiency required).
Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams across product, data, marketing, and service delivery to support client objectives and ensure successful onboarding.
Provide market insights and customer feedback to influence product development and go-to-market strategy.
5+ years’ experience in enterprise sales, account management, or business development.
Proven experience selling to retail clients (strict requirement).
Experience with non-tangible / information-based / data-driven solutions (credit risk, analytics, insights, SaaS, or similar).
Strong consultative sales capability with a track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
Proficiency with Salesforce CRM.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of retail business models.
Exposure to credit risk or financial services data products.
Experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
Existing relationships within major South African retail groups.
Base Salary: Very Competitive
Commission: Performance-based, uncapped
