Job summary

On Line Personnel in Gqeberha is seeking a highly experienced Maintenance Technician for the automotive paint shop. The role focuses on maintaining a wide range of complex mechanical systems and supporting plant reliability.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechatronics/Mechanical Eng degree or ND with Fitter/Millwright trade and have at least 5 years in a large manufacturing setting. Proficiency in PLCs, HMIs, diagnostics, and problem solving is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or diploma in Mechatronics/Mechanical Eng or ND with trade as Fitter or Millwright.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a large manufacturing environment.
• Ability to diagnose, repair and maintain a variety of mechanical systems.
• Experience with PLC controlled systems and HMIs is essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform world-class preventative maintenance on paint shop facilities.
• Respond to breakdowns promptly and carry out corrective maintenance.
• Monitor equipment and adjust for peak performance.
• Conduct plant start-up and switch-off procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OHS standards in equipment use.
• Record production stoppages and uptime using documentation and systems.
• Support engineering during installation or upgrades of new facilities.
• Manage spare parts to ensure availability.

We are seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Technician to join the Paint shop maintenance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of a vast variety of complex mechanical systems

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Mechatronics or Mechanical Engineering Degree alternatively a National diploma (ND) with a trade as a Fitter or Millwright
• Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience (after graduating) in a large manufacturing environment
• Be able to diagnose, repair and maintain a large variety of mechanical systems

Technical and Behaviorial Competencies:

• Be able to understand and maintain complex mechanical systems
• Preventative maintenance
• Read and interpret technical documentation
• Understanding PLC controlled systems
• Be able to operate HMI's
• Skilled using tools and being able to utilize lifting tackle to repair large equipment
