Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing equipment and systems within the polystyrene production facility. This role ensures that all machinery and equipment are operating efficiently and safely to support the continuous production of polystyrene products. The Maintenance Technician works closely with the production team to minimize downtime and improve the overall reliability and performance of the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    • Perform routine maintenance on production equipment.
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to identify potential issues and prevent breakdowns.
    • Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs for all equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Repairs:
    • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic problems with production machinery.
    • Execute timely repairs to minimize production downtime and ensure the continuous operation of the facility.
    • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the Maintenance Supervisor or Plant Manager immediately.
  • Spare Parts and Inventory Management:
    • Manage inventory of spare parts and maintenance supplies to ensure availability when needed.
    • Coordinate with the procurement team to order necessary parts and materials.
    • Maintain an organized and efficient parts storage area.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Collaborate with the production team to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and projects aimed at increasing plant efficiency and reducing maintenance costs.
    • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve maintenance procedures and processes.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment histories, and maintenance schedules.
    • Prepare reports on maintenance performance, including downtime analysis and repair costs.
    • Assist in the development and updating of maintenance manuals and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical or electrical maintenance preferred.
  • Welding Experience would be a plus.
  • Building and Construction Experience would be a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
