Qualifications

• 2-3 years' experience as a Maintenance Technician in heavy industry.
• Valid Code 08 Driver's Licence is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance practices and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Filter, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance requests.
• Ensure compliance with work standards and accurate job completion.
• Report required equipment/materials to the maintenance manager timely.
• Fix potential safety hazards to prevent injuries.
• Carry out preventative and curative maintenance on equipment.

Job description

Introduction

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Maintenance Technician based in Watford Road, Congella, Durban Head Office.

This position reports into the Maintenance Manager.The successful incumbent will provide support to the Maintenance team ensuring that approved maintenance requests are addressed timeously, responsible for fault finding and carrying out preventative and curative maintenance on factory and butchery equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Filter, prioritize, and coordinate maintenance requests as per job cards.
• Ensure compliance with work standards and ensure that all work requirements are completed accurately to avoid repeat jobs.
• Report required equipment / materials to the maintenance manager timeously.
• Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
• Ability to do basic welding, ARC & TIG.
• Bandsaw and motor bearing replacements.
• Converting lights to LED on shop floor & on refrigeration equipment.
• Wiring up D.O.L starters to machinery and other electrical repairs.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• MatricSuitable qualification in electrical, mechanical or millwright would be advantageous.
• 2-3 years' experience working as a Maintenance Technician in heavy industry and / operational environment.
• Valid Code 08 Drivers Licence
• Encompass a comprehensive knowledge of maintenance practices and maintenance equipment and accurate application of that knowledge.
• Knowledge of 3 phase motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Knowledge and adherence to safety rules and regulations according to applicable laws and Chester's standards.
