The Role

Maintenance Planner

As a Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for ensuring optimum plant and vehicle availability by developing and implementing maintenance strategies and schedules. You will utilise advanced planning systems to coordinate preventative, proactive, and corrective maintenance, ensuring resources are effectively managed and safety standards are upheld.

Key Responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years experience as a maintenance planner, with a focus on mining environments
  • Implement maintenance strategies and develop procedures for operational assets
  • Conduct preventative, proactive, and scheduled maintenance planning
  • Develop detailed work packages from preventive maintenance findings and corrective actions
  • Screen corrective maintenance job cards and conduct root cause failure analysis
  • Liaise between engineering and production staff to resolve procedural and equipment issues
  • Assist supervisors with technical problems and provide engineering guidance
  • Analyse spare parts inventory and improve inventory control and procurement practices
  • Compile and deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual maintenance reports
  • Coordinate detailed maintenance tasks per asset and ensure compliance with safety and statutory standards
  • Apply best practice maintenance planning methods and safety technologies
About You
  • Grade 12 or at least 5 years proven experience as a Maintenance Planner (minimum)
  • Minimum 3 years mining experience in a maintenance planning role (6 years preferred)
  • Artisan trade test or equivalent plus Code 8 licence (advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of diamond plants, DMS, and recovery circuits
  • Solid understanding of maintenance planning best practices, processes, and principles
  • Knowledge of engineering standards and auditing practices
  • In-depth understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in mining
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office essential)
  • Strong teamwork, coaching ability, and capacity to work under pressure
  • Clear criminal record (security / police clearance required)

Working Hours: 07:00 – 16:30, with overtime as required
