We’re on the lookout for experienced Maintenance Managers to provide leadership to achieve cost-effective and efficient maintenance and to establish and enforce effective engineering and maintenance procedures and standards to maximize the production of dissolving wood pulp in a safe and legally compliant manner.

As a Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in developing and executing the mill's Maintenance and Improvement strategy, ensuring equipment is available, reliable, and efficient.
  • Completing effective shut planning and execution, including coordination of multidisciplinary annual maintenance shuts.
  • Managing and maintaining all engineering installations in the area of responsibility assigned to you.
  • Developing and maintaining relevant mill documents, standards, specifications, and procedures that ensure compliance with maintenance best practices and engineering standards.
  • Planning and implementing predictive and planned maintenance techniques.
  • Identifying, motivating, and justifying capital expenditure projects for new plant or machinery upgrades.
  • Overseeing the development of equipment and process specifications and approving changes in the plant design.
  • Accountable for the commissioning of new and decommissioning of old equipment.
  • Managing contracts, including negotiations for major engineering contracts and determining when engineering services should be outsourced.
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with legal regulations and mill procedures.
  • Directing maintenance, engineering, and project team members in performance management, talent development, goal alignment, career development, and learning in areas of responsibility.
  • Compiling and implementing annual maintenance and fixed costs budgets and participating in long-term financial planning to execute maintenance and improvement strategies.

What are we looking for?

  • NQF level 8 qualification (4-year Engineering Bachelor's degree or equivalent) coupled with a relevant management qualification at NQF level 6.
  • Government Certificate of Competence (Factories).
  • Registration as a professional engineer is advantageous.
  • 8–10 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry environment with proven people management skills.
  • Experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry is advantageous.
