Job summary

Entyce Beverages Durban Tea Factory, part of AVI Limited, seeks a Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance activities and ensure equipment availability, efficiency and safety across the site. Lead a small team, drive condition monitoring and continuous improvement, manage departmental costs, and ensure adherence to OHS Act and food safety standards (AIB).

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in maintenance engineering with senior supervisory experience, CMMS knowledge, and hands-on

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in maintenance engineering and 5 years in senior supervisory or management roles.
• Experience with operation and maintenance of packaging machines (Cartoners, Case Packers, FFS, Seaming, Shrink Wrap, Flow-wrap).
• Familiarity with CMMS, planning and master data governance; knowledge of RCM, RCA and FI tools.
• Understanding of utilities and energy systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze breakdowns and recommend downtime reduction.
• Manage maintenance planning and site KPIs (OEE, availability).
• Oversee departmental costs in line with budget.
• Provide technical advice and drive continuous improvements.
• Ensure compliance with OHS Act and food safety standards (AIB).
• Lead, develop and manage staff.

• Step Into a Role That Makes an Impact! We’re seeking a Maintenance Manager to drive success NBL Durban Tea in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. This role is designed to oversee and manage all maintenance and related activities to ensure optimal levels of plant and equipment availability, efficiency and ensuring equipment standards are maintained. The role also encompasses the management and coordination of statutory and other legislative requirements with regards to the safety of machinery in the workplace.

Reporting Structure

• Reports to: Engineering Manager
• Direct Reports: 2

Key Areas Of Impact

• Analysis of breakdowns, with recommendations to reduce downtime
• General administrative activities associated with a leadership position
• Management of Departmental costs in line with the budget
• Provide technical advice to the team as required – breakdowns, and continuous improvements.
• Support the implementation of the Quality Management System
• Compliant with the legislation of OHS Act – fulfil GMR 2 (7) appointment
• Adherence to Food safety requirements and AIB principles to be upheld
• Drive safety culture in the department & site – Housekeeping, PTW, LOTO, SOPs.
• Management and development of staff
• Review and improvement of existing maintenance practices
• Implementation of condition monitoring activities
• Reporting
• Work Planning and Control
• Custodian of equipment, infrastructure and building maintenance.
• Utility performance and reliability.
• Contractor, OEM and spares management.
• Financial & systems governance.
• Statutory & regulatory compliance.
• Delivery of engineering and site KPIs, including OEE, engineering availability and maintenance work order compliance.

What It Takes To Succeed

Experience that set you up for success

• 5 years' experience with Maintenance Engineering background
• 5 years' experience at a senior supervisory or management level
• Operation and maintenance of packing machines preferably Cartoners, Case Packers, FFS (Form, Fill and Seal), Seaming, Shrink Wrap and Flow-wrap machines
• Implementation of Asset Care
• Maintenance Planning exposure
• Knowledge of CMMS systems, planning, and master data governance.
• Knowledge of RCM, RCA and FI tools.
• Understanding of utilities and energy systems.

Qualifications & Certifications That Will Contribute To Your Success

• Completed tertiary qualification (NDip; BTech; BEng) in Mechanical Engineering
• Eligibility to write GCC (Completed GCC will be an advantage)

Additional Requirements That Will Enhance Your Impact For Success

• Competency in Computerized Maintenance Management System (Shopware, Pragma, SAP, etc.).
• MS Office package knowledge especially Projects is essential.
• Strong analytical thinking
