Job summary

A consulting firm in Durban, South Africa, is seeking an experienced engineer to execute maintenance strategies and lead project initiatives. Responsibilities include managing outages, preparing project reports, and identifying risks. Candidates must have a Mechanical or Electrical Engineering diploma/degree, with at least 3 years of experience in the chemical or petrochemical industry and strong project management skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in Maintenance/Engineering/Project roles, preferably in the chemical/petrochemical industry.
• Experience with OPEX & CAPEX budget preparation and management.
• Good understanding of SHEQ systems (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001 & ISO 19001).

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute planned and unplanned maintenance outages/shutdowns.
• Implement and update maintenance strategy for the business.
• Submit monthly project reports.
• Lead root cause analysis of repetitive failures and recommend improvements.
• Identify risk exposure and mitigation measures.
• Ensure safety files for service providers are reviewed and approved.
• Participate in investigations relevant to maintenance activities.
