Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Relevant Technical Qualification
- Trade Tested Certificate
- Minimum of 5 years’ industrial electrical systems and maintenance experience in a similar environment
- Strong Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance skills
- Thorough knowledge of safety procedures, legal regulations, and guidelines
- Basic knowledge of HACCP system, Pre-requisite Program – ISOPE01, and HACCP Plan for glass and Bib filling – ISOPH02
- Computer literate
- Valid Driver’s License required
Duties
Electrical Installation & Maintenance
- Install and maintain distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, transformers, or other components).
- Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks, ensuring compatibility of components.
- Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
- Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or replace damaged units.
- Inspect electrical systems and components, such as transformers and circuit breakers, regularly identify hazards and defects, and ensure compliance with codes.
- Identify electrical problems, malfunctioning systems, and correct the problem (e.g., repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures).
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Machine & Equipment Maintenance
- Carry out preventative machine maintenance according to the maintenance plan and attend to breakdowns on all machines, equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Perform improvements on machines and equipment when necessary.
- Ensure the correct lubricants are used for specified machines / products as per machine / product specifications
- Ensure proper care and use of workshop machines, tools, and equipment.
- Order and collect spares and other maintenance requirements in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and Production Manager.
- Respond to callouts and attend to breakdowns when required.
- Maintain registers according to the OHAS Act statutory requirements for power tools, ladders, pressure vessels, and lifting devices.
- Liaise with service companies on plant service issues, including air compressors, hoists, and forklift trucks.
- Complete all breakdown and preventative maintenance records according to QMS procedures.
Buildings & Grounds Maintenance
- Carry out preventative maintenance and repair work on buildings as required.
- Attend to breakdowns and liaise with departmental managers to minimize disruption to processes.
- Perform basic plumbing and electrical repairs as required in the plant.
Quality Management Systems
- Adhere to QMS standards and procedures.
- Follow QMS protocols as outlined in the procedures.
- Ensure the security of the premises is maintained in responsible areas.
- Adhere to the set GMP protocol and participate in various quality seminars.
Health, Safety, and Housekeeping
- Control CCPs, including sanitation testing of machines and equipment worked on during maintenance.
- Sanitize the workshop and parts store.
- Participate in annual HACCP training and H&S committee meetings.
- Adhere to the protective clothing policy.
- Ensure compliance with company and statutory H&S policies and procedures.
- Work closely with the safety representative to ensure adherence to safe work practices.
- Contribute to the company’s safety awareness by monitoring contractors while on-site and report any deviations to the Maintenance Manager.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained, keeping all areas of responsibility clean and neat.
