Job description

Shatterprufe® is the leading manufacturer and distributor of OE Auto and aftermarket replacement glass products. The company manufactures genuine Shatterprufe® laminated windscreens and Armourplate® toughened automotive safety glass products. Three automotive glass plants manufacture over 4 million pieces of laminated and toughened glass a year for customers worldwide. Shatterprufe® products are installed by Original Motor manufacturers in Southern Africa.

Main job purpose
  • Support manufacturing on all technical issues (electrical, automation and mechanical) by identifying problems, trouble shooting corrective actions, and carrying out routine maintenance to maintain machine availability allowing for production to run optimally and to meet targets.
Main Objective
  • Responsible for attending to planned and breakdown maintenance of electrical and /or mechanical machinery and equipment by responding timeously to breakdown requests and maintenance schedules to ensure production runs optimally and efficiently to meet targets.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of all machinery and equipment during shift by ensuring all contractors and employees adhere to relevant legislation, site safety procedures, and SANS code of electrical standards when working on live electrical machinery and equipment to safe guard the business from possible risk and prevent injuries.
  • To assist production personnel in preventing product defects caused by machine and equipment related problems and to minimise production losses and reduce quality defects in order to meet customer quality standards by ensuring machines are available.
  • Ensure effective communication of relevant information to all stakeholders to support effective decision making for the business.
  • Responsible for overseeing all contractors and vendors while on site by monitoring and inspecting completion of work in line with engineering requests while ensuring work is carried out according set standards and safety procedures.
  • Responsible for participating effectively in MDW teams to support overall team and business objectives.
Critical job requirements
