Job summary

Excellerate is seeking a Handyman Assistant in Port Shepstone, South Africa, to support the Handy Man in delivering general maintenance across client sites. Tasks include carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, dry walling, plumbing, tiling and more, with reporting via smartphone apps.

You will assist with inspections, compile reports, and help with ad-hoc repairs and planned maintenance while adhering to safety procedures. A driver’s license and travel between sites are required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• 1–2 years’ experience in general building or facilities maintenance.
• Basic carpentry, painting, tiling, plumbing and repairs skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
• Ability to use a smartphone and mobile apps for reporting and tracking.
• Good communication and health & safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist Handy Man with general maintenance and repairs across client sites.
• Support carpentry, painting, ceiling repairs, dry walling, basic masonry, plumbing, tiling and office furniture repairs.
• Prepare tools, materials and equipment for site tasks.
• Assist in inspections, identify issues and provide accurate reports.
• Complete daily digital job cards, delivery notes and reports using mobile technology.
• Support site call-outs promptly and assist with ad-hoc repairs or planned maintenance.
• Provide feedback to the Handy Man and Operations Manager.
• Comply with health, safety and operational procedures at all times.
