Placements24 is seeking a talented Machine Learning Engineer specializing in NLP in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will design, train, and deploy state-of-the-art NLP models powering chatbots, sentiment analysis, and content generation.

You will collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to ship production-ready solutions in a fast-paced team. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years in ML/NLP, strong Python skills, and hands-on experience with modern ML libraries and NLP frameworks.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, AI, Linguistics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in machine learning engineering with a focus on NLP.
• Proficiency in Python and ML/NLP libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLTK, spaCy, or Hugging Face).
• Solid understanding of core NLP concepts, algorithms and techniques.
• Experience deploying ML models in production environments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and Docker is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication and teamwork.

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly growing AI solutions provider based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal , is looking for a talented Machine Learning Engineer with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP). This role is integral to developing and deploying sophisticated AI models that understand and generate human language, powering innovative applications such as chatbots, sentiment analysis tools, and automated content generation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in machine learning principles, deep expertise in NLP techniques, and hands-on experience building and optimizing production-ready ML models. You will work closely with a team of data scientists and software engineers to bring cutting-edge AI solutions to life, contributing to the advancement of natural language understanding technologies within a dynamic and collaborative environment in Durban .

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, and deploy NLP models for various applications, including text classification, named entity recognition, topic modeling, and question answering.
• Implement and fine-tune state-of-the-art NLP architectures, such as Transformers (e.g., BERT, GPT), LSTMs, and CNNs.
• Process and analyze large volumes of text data, performing feature engineering and data preprocessing.
• Collaborate with data scientists to evaluate model performance, conduct experiments, and iterate on model improvements.
• Build and maintain robust ML pipelines for data ingestion, model training, evaluation, and deployment in a production environment.
• Optimize models for performance, scalability, and efficiency.
• Stay current with the latest research and advancements in NLP and machine learning.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Linguistics, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong focus on NLP.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant ML/NLP libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLTK, spaCy, or Hugging Face Transformers.
• Solid understanding of core NLP concepts, algorithms, and techniques.
• Experience with developing and deploying ML models in production environments.
