Job summary

A leading player in the LPG sector is seeking an experienced LPG Plant Operator to ensure safe and efficient operation of their processing facility. The ideal candidate will have a National Certificate in Chemical Operations, proven experience in the oil and gas industry, and strong mechanical skills. Responsibilities include operating equipment, conducting inspections, managing product transfers, and maintaining safety standards. This is a full-time position in Boksburg, Gauteng.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Plant Operator in the oil and gas industry, preferably with LPG.
  • Familiarity with regulations for handling and storing hazardous materials.
  • Physical fitness for tasks involving lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor LPG processing equipment.
  • Conduct loading and offloading of LPG road tankers.
  • Perform regular plant inspections and monitor process parameters.
  • Manage product transfers and blend LPG.
  • Conduct quality testing of products as per customer requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of operations and inspections.
  • Respond to plant emergencies and participate in safety initiatives.

Our client, a leading player in the LPG sector, is seeking an experienced and safety-focused LPG Plant Operator to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a critical role for the safe and efficient operation of their processing facility.

Requirements
  • National Certificate in Chemical Operations or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical or chemical engineering is preferred.
  • Has proven experience as a Plant Operator within the oil and gas industry, with LPG experience being highly advantageous
  • Possesses a strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of equipment maintenance
  • Is familiar with regulations for handling and storing hazardous materials (LPG).
  • Is physically fit for tasks involving lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces
  • Has excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team
  • Is willing to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor LPG processing equipment, including compressors, pumps, valves, and pipelines
  • Conduct loading and offloading of LPG road tankers
  • Perform regular plant inspections, monitor process parameters, and ensure adherence to safety standards (SOPs)
  • Manage product transfers between tanks and blend LPG to meet specified vapour pressure requirements
  • Conduct quality testing of products as per customer requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and safety inspections
  • Respond decisively to plant emergencies and participate in safety initiatives
