Job summary

Samancor Chrome Ltd. seeks a logistics-focused professional to optimise material handling and planning for Surface Mobile Equipment. You will oversee RM stock planning, order allocations, and transporter scheduling while ensuring quality and adherence to IMS and SHEQ targets.

The role involves continuous improvement projects, supplier coordination, and data reporting. A relevant engineering diploma and 4 years’ experience are required, with SAP/MES exposure preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have degree or national diploma in metallurgy/chemical engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• SAP/MES qualification or experience in material procurement and supplier reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Optimise logistics and raw material handling for safe, reliable, cost-effective use of Surface Mobile Equipment.
• Plan and schedule RM stock, allocate orders, track receipts vs orders, and manage transporter allocations.
• Manage quality, IMS and SHEQ targets, check point deviations, and drive continuous improvement projects.
• Handle system administration tasks and MES/SAP related reporting and data integrity.
• Attend to supplier/transporter queries, monitor delivery schedules, and conduct site visits for evaluations.
• Foster growth through Operational Excellence and improved reporting and data keeping.

Purpose Of The Job

To optimise logistics and raw material handling by ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective use of Surface Mobile Equipment, while maintaining quality, customer service, contractor management, improvement initiatives and operational objectives.

Job Responsibilities

PLANNING & SCHEDULING and STOCK MANAGEMENT

• RM stock days management and planning
• Order allocations
• Order tracking reporting (Receipts vs Order)
• Transporter allocation
• Furnace and PSP consumption approvals
• Quality Management and customer complaints
• RM stock report management
• RM month end reports
• Transporter performance report and review
• Managing the stock report on MES (negative stocks)
• Month end recon report

QUALITY MANAGEMENT & RISK CONTROL

• Plant optimisation and improvements
• IMS and SHEQ targets
• Survey and recon data capturing and reporting
• Investigate survey discrepancies and reports
• Checkpoint deviations investigation and reports
• Continuous improvement projects
• Ensuring field prep for survey and verifying recon
• Monthly RCFA
• Quality Management and customer complaints
• Management of Monthly Service Level Agreements.

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION & UPDATES

• Tickets Approval
• SAP ERP Connect integration report
• Approval of check point deviations

CUSTOMER/SUPPLIER SERVICE

• Attend to escalated supplier/transporter queries
• Monitor and review delivery schedule from suppliers
• Site visits to suppliers and transporters for evaluations
