Job summary

A logistics management company in East London is seeking a Logistics Manager with at least 5 years of experience in a unionised environment. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, advanced knowledge in MS Office, and leadership skills to manage a productive team. Responsibilities include managing logistics operations, ensuring timely availability of materials, and compiling budgets. Certified copies of ID and qualifications are required for application.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of Logistics Management experience in a unionised environment.
  • Very good understanding of imports and overseas suppliers.
  • Working knowledge of applicable labour legislation in South Africa.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that material and components are available timeously for manufacturing.
  • Manage material and finished goods inventories in line with the annual budget.
  • Compile annual financial budget for logistics department.

  • Degree/Diploma (preferably Logistics or Purchasing Management)
  • MDP or relevant business management qualification (advantageous)
  • At least 5 years Logistics Management experience in a unionised environment
  • Must have very good understanding of imports and overseas suppliers
  • Have a very good grip of the customs clearance process
  • Strong business acumen with regards to cost consciousness, efficiency improvement and production planning
  • Knowledge in business intelligence portals and capable to generate own reports
  • Ability to lead and motivate employees towards achieving a set of predetermined targets
  • Working knowledge of applicable labour legislation in the South African context
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Baan ERP system
  • Knowledge of TS 16949, ISO14001 and ISO 45001
Responsibilities
  • Ensure that material and components required in manufacturing is available timeously
  • Manage material and finish goods inventories in line with annual budget
  • Ensure that cycle counts are conducted and that stock adjustments are done timeously
  • Ensure that forecasts are submitted to suppliers and the timeous arrival of imported and local components
  • Manage and report on monthly KPI’s related to the logistics department
  • Compile annual financial budget for logistics department
  • Communication to OEM’s regarding any logistic related issues
  • Ensure that all subordinates are trained and working according to management systems
  • Participate in the introduction of new projects
  • Maintain a safe and accident-free work environment
  • Create an environment of effectiveness, efficiency and optimum performance of employees by providing direction, motivation and development in line with operational objectives
