As a leading service provider to large scale corporate and government clients, our growth strategy revolves around moving away from a volume based compensation and efficiency strategy to a strategy that rewards reduction of the waste at source. Our purpose is 'Minimisation through Innovation'.

About the Role

We are seeking a results‑driven Logistics Manager with hands‑on mechanical experience to lead and oversee the logistics and maintenance operations within our waste management and recycling business. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership and data‑driven logistics acumen and mechanical experience to optimize fleet performance, equipment uptime, and route efficiency. This role is critical to ensuring service reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance across our collection and processing operations.

Responsibilities
  • Logistics & Fleet Operations: Oversee daily logistics for waste collection, recycling, and disposal routes, ensuring service timelines and route optimisation; manage the company's fleet of collection vehicles, roll‑off trucks, loaders, and other mobile equipment including using online fleet tracking and digital optimisation solutions; coordinate with dispatch and customer service teams to respond to service issues and schedule adjustments; monitor fuel usage, driver performance, and vehicle utilisation to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Maintenance Management: Lead the preventive and corrective maintenance of vehicles, compactors, balers, conveyors, and facility equipment; maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and service schedules in the CMMS; ensure workshop safety, tool inventory, and spare parts availability.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all logistics and maintenance operations comply with environmental regulations and OSHA standards; conduct safety briefings, equipment inspections, and staff training in best practices and safe work procedures; support sustainability goals by optimising equipment longevity and minimising breakdown‑related disruptions.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and develop a team of drivers and maintenance personnel; provide coaching and technical guidance on equipment troubleshooting and maintenance techniques; collaborate with other departments to improve cross‑functional operations and project delivery.
Qualifications Required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics or maintenance management within the waste management, recycling, or environmental services sector.
  • Proven leadership experience managing fleet and maintenance teams.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS and route optimisation or fleet tracking systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics, and conduct hands‑on repairs as needed.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Certification in heavy equipment maintenance, diesel mechanics, or a related technical field is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with waste handling equipment, recycling plant operations, and environmental compliance.
  • Experience working with contractors and third‑party service providers.
