Job summary

Cate Town Med is seeking a dedicated Locum GP to join our team for up to six months. The practice operates from two locations in Cape Town and Sea Point, offering 2–3 shifts per week with advance notice for extended shifts. The role emphasizes patient-centred care in a supportive private practice setting.

Applicants must hold MBChB with current HPCSA registration and have indemnity insurance. Reliable, private-practice experience and strong clinical skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Complete motivations, medical aid forms, and respond to prescription queries.
• Communicate results of investigations to patients and document the outcomes.
• Contribute to medical writing, including blog posts and patient information leaflets.
• Follow practice protocols and HPCSA regulations; maintain patient confidentiality under POPIA.

Cape Town Med is looking for a dedicated and patient-centred Locum GP to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a doctor who enjoys the variety and flexibility of locum work within a well-run, supportive private practice.

This is a fixed-term contract of up to six months, in compliance with HPCSA regulations. The position includes a one-month mutual assessment period.

Locations:

74 Loop Street, Cape Town City Centre

11 Kloof Road, Sea Point

Working Hours:

2–3 shifts per week, with additional extended shifts for leave cover as needed. Shifts are communicated upfront for a three-month period with at least one full month's notice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide general medical consultations, diagnoses, and treatments
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records during consultations
• Prescribe medications and manage repeat prescriptions
• Complete motivations, medical aid forms, and respond to prescription queries
• Communicate results of special investigations to patients
• Review and complete patient query sheets during shifts
• Contribute to medical writing, including blog posts and patient information leaflets
• Follow all practice protocols and comply with HPCSA regulations
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality in line with POPIA requirements

Requirements:

• MBChB (or equivalent) with current HPCSA registration
• Valid professional indemnity insurance (proof required before commencement)
• Strong clinical skills and a commitment to thorough, patient-centred care
• Comfortable working independently in a private practice setting
• Reliable and professional
