Job summary

Dis-Chem seeks a Qualified Clinic Sister to manage a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic inside Paarl Mall. The role operates within the pharmacy’s scope of practice for a registered nursing practitioner, ensuring services are available, records are accurate, and clinic objectives are met.

The successful candidate will have a General Nursing qualification, SANC registration, and 2–3 years’ PHC clinic experience, with strong English communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 – Matric
• Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
• Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
• Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
• 2-3 years’ experience in practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
• Computer skills – MS Office

Responsibilities

• Perform Clinic Sister duties according to industry regulations and best practices
• Manage the average feet-per-hour rate and set clinic objectives to enhance patient flow
• Ensure all clinic services are available at the clinic
• Keep accurate patient records and ensure communications are followed up
• Ensure the clinic operates according to stated hours and processes claims accurately and timeously
• Maintain stock and equipment in working condition and ensure stock sufficiency
• Build and maintain relationships with patients, store/dispensary manager, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and community stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

Essential

• Grade 12 – Matric
• Tertiary qualification in General Nursing
• Degree/Diploma in Midwifery
• Registered with South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• Nursing practitioner must obtain BHF registration
• 2-3 years’ experience in practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister
• Computer skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

• Minimum 5 years practicing as a Primary Health Care Sister

Job Description

Competencies

Essential

• Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care and/or occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS pre- and post-counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, wound care
• Quarterly CPD training; in-service training with Dis-Chem
• Strong command of English (written and oral)
• Understand the financial implications of meeting or not meeting set monthly targets
• Strong analytical skills relating to monthly clinic statistics and commission
• Emotional intelligence; entrepreneurial flair; trustworthy and honest
• Ability to manage team and self; be self-direct and self-motivated
