Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a physically fit Local Freight Handler for our busy Upington distribution centre. You will load, unload and organize cargo, ensuring safe handling and efficient warehouse operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires teamwork, reliability and adherence to safety procedures, with on-the-job training provided for equipment operation and safety. This is a full-time position offering overtime possibilities and career growth within the centre.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse or freight handling experience is advantageous.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy items.
• Understanding of basic warehouse safety procedures.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from trucks and other vehicles.
• Sort, organize, and stack freight according to distribution centre procedures.
• Inspect freight for damage and report any discrepancies or issues.
• Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (training provided if necessary).
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety standards.
• Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
