About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding e-commerce fulfillment company, is seeking a diligent and customer-focused Local Delivery Van Driver to be based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. This role is critical for ensuring prompt and accurate delivery of online orders to our customers' doorsteps within the local region. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Pietermaritzburg area, possess excellent navigation skills, and be committed to providing a positive delivery experience. You will be an integral part of our client's last-mile delivery network, upholding their reputation for reliability and efficiency. This hybrid role requires on-site presence for dispatch and vehicle checks, with potential for remote coordination and route planning review.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver packages and goods to customers in a timely and efficient manner within designated local routes in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal.
• Operate a delivery van safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
• Conduct daily inspections of the delivery van, ensuring it is clean, well-maintained, and equipped for service.
• Utilize navigation tools and GPS devices to plan and execute optimal delivery routes.
• Collect proof of delivery (signatures, photos) accurately and efficiently.
• Provide friendly and professional customer service during delivery interactions.
• Report any issues with deliveries, vehicle performance, or customer concerns to the dispatch team promptly.
• Assist with sorting and organizing packages at the local distribution hub before commencing routes.
• Adhere to company protocols for handling returns and undeliverable items.
• Maintain a high level of organization and attention to detail throughout the delivery process.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license (Code 8/EB or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
• Previous experience as a delivery driver, courier, or in a similar role is preferred.
• Good knowledge of Pietermaritzburg and surrounding local areas.
• Familiarity with using navigation apps and GPS systems.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Physical stamina to lift and carry packages (up to 20kg) and the ability to be on your feet for extended periods.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
