Overview

Our client in the financial industry is currently looking for a Litigation Associate, in Randburg, Johannesburg.

Responsibilities
  • Provide legal support on complex and commercial litigation matters.
  • Assist with vetting of deal terms and conditions before Credit Committee approval.
  • Draft legal agreements and related documents using standard templates (Loan Agreements, Pledge and Cession Agreements, Guarantees, etc.).
  • Instruct attorneys to register securities (e.g., mortgage bonds, special notarial bonds).
  • Ensure compliance with ideal conditions prior to fund disbursement.
  • Project manage recovery matters internally and with external legal advisors.
  • Monitor portfolio and provide legal advice on corporate and commercial matters.
  • Support credit analysts and operations with legal expertise.
  • Attend to drafting and reviewing regulatory documentation, security agreements, and resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date legal documentation on the system.
Qualifications
  • Admitted Attorney with an LLB degree.
  • Minimum 5 years post-articles legal experience.
  • Currently employed in a law firm / practice.
  • Strong experience in commercial litigation.
  • No experience in Insurance, RAF, personal injury or motor vehicle litigation.
  • No experience in Labour / employment law, Family law, Conveyancing, Criminal law.
  • Comfortable dealing with clients at all levels and handling litigation matters.
  • Tech‑savvy.
