Linux Systems Engineer - IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY REQUIRED in CAPE TOWN (IN OFFICE, NO REMOTE) Location : 1-grid, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Job Purpose

The Linux Systems Operations Administrator will be part of the technical team responsible for automating, securing, and maintaining reliable systems and network infrastructure. The role emphasizes supporting our Premier customers with technical queries, system automation, stability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resolve technical support queries from Premier customers
  • Provide 24 / 7 monitoring of infrastructure and systems
  • Analyze and troubleshoot systems
  • Implement and integrate new technologies into data center environments
  • Manage backup integrity, ensuring data availability and restaurability
  • Perform patch management
  • Adhere to security and privacy protocols
  • Document systems and processes
  • Optimize system performance
  • Handle escalations from support departments
  • Manage inventory, report requirements, and shortages to procurement
Qualifications & Experience
  • Fundamentals of hardware / networking, preferably in a data center (A+ / N+ or similar diploma); 3-5 years of experience (mid-level), or 6-10 years (senior)
  • Knowledge of Hyper‑V / KVM environments
  • Customer support experience
  • Experience managing Windows and Linux servers
  • Basic scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python) and CLI experience
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle; position requires reliable commute or relocation to Paarden Eiland, Western Cape
