Job summary

Boardroom Appointments in Cape Town seeks a Linux Systems Operations Administrator to join our technical team responsible for automating, securing and maintaining reliable systems and network infrastructure.

You will support Premier customers with technical queries, manage 24/7 monitoring, backups and patching, while driving efficiency and security across both office and datacenter environments.

Qualifications

• Experience in a datacenter environment preferred.
• Hands-on Linux and Windows server management.
• Basic scripting in Bash, PowerShell or Python.
• Familiarity with Hyper-V or KVM virtualization.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 monitoring of company infrastructure and systems.
• Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing data centre environments.
• Backup integrity management (Ensure availability and restorability).
• Patch management.
• Adherence to security and privacy processes.
• Documentation of systems and processes.
• Ensure optimal system performance and optimization.
• Escalations from support departments.
• Inventory management, reporting any requirements and shortage to procurement team based on minimum re-order levels.

Job description

The Linux Systems Operations Administrator position fits into the company technical team who is responsible for automating, securing and maintaining reliable systems and network infrastructure. An emphasis is placed on supporting our Premier customers with technical queries, dedicated and VPS support, systems automation, stability and efficiency. Our company systems and infrastructure include our office and datacenter environment which house our hosting infrastructure, network and support systems critical for the day to day operation of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To provide 24/7 monitoring of company infrastructure and systems
• Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data centre environments
• Backup integrity management (Ensure availability and restorability)
• Patch management

Qualifications and Experience:

• Hardware/Networking fundamentals preferably in a datacenter environment (A+/ N+) or similar diploma
• Knowledge of Hyper-V/KVM environments
• Experience in Windows and Linux server management
• Basic scripting (Bash, Powershell, Python) and cli experience
• Valid drivers license and reliable vehicle
