Our client in the citrus / agricultural industry, based in Kirkwood, is looking to employ an experienced Line Manager. This role will be based on-site in Kirkwood.
Main purpose:
- Planning and execution of the packing of citrus on a production line. This involves managing people and other resources to ensure product is packed according to specification, while production costs and targets are achieved.
Requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
- A formal qualification in Production / Operations Management will be advantageous.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing a large team in a production environment.
- Proven computer literacy – MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Must be able to draw reports on Excel.
- Knowledge of BRC and QHSE systems will be advantageous.
- Must be willing to work night shift/day shift and form part of the maintenance team outside the fruit-packing period.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that hourly and daily production and quality targets are met.
- Identify areas and reasons for poor production and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to local and international food safety standards and requirements.
- Maintain continuous quality control measures.
- Report and follow up on equipment failures and maintenance requirements with the Maintenance Department.
- Record all relevant production and technical data.
- Maintain and utilize various reports and dashboards to measure performance against targets.
- Identify development areas and manage staff performance.
- Proactively plan staff, stock and other resources with internal departments.
- Exercise effective control of all employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance and absenteeism-related matters.
- Present daily production progress and planning reports at Management meetings.
