Job summary

Virgin Active is seeking a Lifeguard to supervise pool and spa areas, ensuring safety and a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests. You will deliver excellent customer service, perform safety checks, and support the Operations team in daily club activities. The role may include Duty Manager responsibilities when required.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about safety, able to stay calm under pressure, and flexible with hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

About the Role

The role sits within the Operations Team and focuses on creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for members. The Lifeguard supervises pool and spa areas, maintains safety and cleanliness standards, and delivers exceptional customer service. The post holder acts as a trusted ambassador for the club, responding confidently to situations and supporting the wider Operations team. They may also undertake Duty Manager responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise all pool and spa areas, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of members and guests at all times.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by creating a friendly, approachable and welcoming environment for every member.
• Carry out routine poolside safety checks, water testing and plant monitoring, accurately recording all required information.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, following all Virgin Active operating procedures and lifeguarding protocols.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation across all poolside, spa and changing facilities.
• Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments and mandatory training requirements.
• Support the wider Operations team with the day-to-day running of the club, helping to maintain a safe and welcoming environment throughout.
• Undertake Duty Manager responsibilities when required, supporting the safe and efficient operation of the club.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Calm, confident and able to remain composed under pressure.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with members and colleagues.
• High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety and operational standards.
• Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
• Competency swimming up to 50 metres.

Salary

• £13.25—£13.25 GBP
