Job summary

A leading commodity handling organization seeks a qualified Quality Controller to ensure product quality at the Middelburg workshop in Mpumalanga. The role requires inspection of materials, verification, and maintenance of compliance with ISO standards. Candidates must have a National Diploma in Mechanical, quality management certification, and hands-on welding inspection experience. This full-time position offers the chance to improve production quality and system compliance within a dynamic team.

Qualifications

  • 3 years experience in fabrication for National Diploma holder or 5 years experience for Trade Test Plater/Boilermaker.
  • Experience in on-site erection and commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect materials, in-process products, and finished products for quality.
  • Verify raw materials match orders and certifications.
  • Maintain material traceability throughout production.
  • Oversee weld quality (ISO 3834) and support NDT.
  • Identify and document non-conforming products.
  • Collaborate to resolve defects and drive improvements.
  • Keep accurate inspection and test records.
  • Prepare documentation for product release.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Monitor compliance with safety and quality standards (ISO 9001).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Quality inspections: Inspect materials, in-process products, and finished products for quality
  • Material Verification: Verify raw materials match orders and certifications
  • Material Traceability: Maintain material traceability throughout production
  • Welding Inspections: Oversee weld quality (ISO 3834) and support NDT
  • Non-Conformance Management: Identify and document non-conforming products
  • Defect Correction & Quality Improvement: Collaborate to resolve defects and drive improvements
  • QC Procedures: Keep accurate inspection and test records
  • Data Books: Prepare documentation for product release
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure equipment is calibrated and maintained
  • Compliance: Monitor compliance with safety and quality standards (ISO 9001)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • National Diploma in Mechanical with 3 years’ experience in fabrication or Trade Test Plater shop/Boilermaker with 5 years’ experience in fabrication
  • Quality Management Certificate
  • Welding Inspector Level 1 or 2
  • On-site erection and commission experience
