LAWYER-(LEGAL SERVICES MANAGER)-MINING INDUSTRY
Based Gauteng
R 1.7 million CTC per annum
LLB degree, LLM, or MBA advantage - Must be an admitted attorney / advocate: Registered with the Legal Practice Council
Responsibilities
- Suitable applicants must have VAST experience within the mining industry (minimum 8 years post qualification experience in commercial law / mining and /or litigation)
- Sound experience in drafting, negotiating and interpreting complex commercial agreements and contracts
- Must have sound knowledge of South Africa's legal and regulatory landscape specifically in relation to MINING, ENVIRONMENTAL and SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT legislation (MPRDA, NEMA, SLP's)
- Provide specialized legal advice to the Group of companies in respect of strategic objectives focussing on commercial and mining law
- Draft and review contracts
- Manage litigation, represent the company in external legal matters
- Ensure regulatory adherance
- Advise on corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions and due dilligence)
- Ongoing legal research to identify potential risks, implications, requirements etc
Qualifications
- Admitted attorney / advocate: Registered with the Legal Practice Council (required)
- LLB degree, LLM, or MBA advantage
- 8+ years post-qualification experience in commercial law, mining and/or litigation
- Strong drafting, negotiation and interpretation of complex commercial agreements and contracts
- In-depth knowledge of South Africa's mining, environmental and socio-economic development legislation (MPRDA, NEMA, SLPs)
- Ability to provide specialized legal advice for strategic commercial and mining objectives
- Experience with corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions and due diligence)
- Ongoing legal research to identify risks and regulatory implications
