Job description
Purpose

The Legal Officer will provide strategic advice on corporate and commercial transactions and compliance matters ensuring that the Group complies with its legal, regulatory and statutory requirements and support specific projects and departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle legal matters while engaging internal stakeholders and external contacts.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements for relevant company transactions.
  • Execution of commercial transactions from inception to finalisation.
  • Assist in specific cases where required, primarily by liaising with external counsel.
  • Deliver legal advice on matters with a focus on commercial and corporate finance law.
  • Work closely with designated departments to provide focused legal support.
  • Maintain engagement with external legal advisors, regulators or stakeholders.
  • Managing and mitigating legal risks on behalf of the company.
  • Ensure business activities are aligned with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Advancing the company's broader business goals with strategic, commercial legal advice.
Qualifications and Experience
  • LLB degree and admitted attorney in South Africa.
  • years' post-admission experience in corporate/commercial law.
  • Experience gained from a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal team.
