Introduction
Our client, a highly respected professional body and authority on corporate governance in South Africa, seeks a Legal Services and Member Relations Manager to join their dynamic team in Sandton.
This hybrid role offers an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned legal professional with a passion for governance, compliance, and professional ethics to provide expert legal advisory support, manage member disciplinary processes, and oversee intellectual property matters.

Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory and Support
- Provide expert legal advice to management and operational teams on a wide range of matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, ensuring legal soundness and business alignment.
- Manage disputes, enforcement actions, and coordinate with external legal counsel.
- Identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks across the organisation.
- Maintain oversight of the organisation’s contract register and legal documentation.
Member Discipline
- Oversee and administer all member disciplinary processes in line with organisational regulations.
- Ensure procedural fairness, due process, and accurate record‑keeping in disciplinary matters.
- Provide legal support and guidance to disciplinary panels and management.
Intellectual Property (IP) Management
- Manage and protect the organisation’s IP portfolio, including trademarks, domains, and copyrights.
- Oversee renewals, licensing, enforcement, and infringement matters in collaboration with external service providers.
General Legal Operations
- Prepare management and board reports, support decision‑making, and contribute to legal strategy.
- Manage departmental budgets and ensure efficient use of external legal resources.
- Provide input into policy development and governance frameworks.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- LLB degree (required); Admitted Attorney (preferred).
- 5–10 years of post‑qualification experience, ideally in a corporate or professional body environment.
- Experience in corporate law, contracts, IP, governance, and disciplinary matters.
- Sound understanding of King IV / King V and governance frameworks.
- Excellent legal drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
