About the Role

This position exists to review and analyze legislation, case law, court rules and other materials necessary for the production of LexisNexis primary law content and publications in all media, and to perform customer and marketing‑related activities in accordance with business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing impact of new legislation/rules on existing statutory/rule content and effectively communicating all primary law changes and additions, including contingencies, postponed treatments, unusual provisions and multiple amendments.
  • Tracking and monitoring legislation and demonstrating an advanced understanding of the legislative process in assigned jurisdiction(s).
  • Reviewing and ensuring proper editorial workup of new legislation; resolving outstanding issues and reviewing section notes written by editors.
  • Acquiring a firm understanding of editorial processes, jurisdictional style guidelines and utilizing best practices.
  • Addressing internal and external customer concerns and questions regarding primary law content and effectively communicating legal and editorial knowledge to internal and external customers.
  • Conducting and/or participating in content/product quality review and audit.
  • Meeting or exceeding production standards by setting priorities and adhering to critical deadlines and production schedules. Regularly communicating product details/timelines.
  • Regularly participate in professional development and training.
Requirements
  • Have Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal degree, and Attorney admission.
  • Have one to two years of editorial experience.
  • Have excellent command of English language with strong analytical, legal research, and writing skills.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, a positive attitude, and professional demeanor employed in routine contact with geographically diverse colleagues and customers.
  • Able to adapt to changing business demands and have organizational skills.
  • Be self‑motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • Able to prioritize and multitask to meet critical deadlines.
  • Able to learn quickly, retain, and become proficient in new software packages and technical skills including MS Office suite and XML mark‑up language.
