Job summary

A legal consultancy firm is looking for a Legal Advisor in Midrand, South Africa. The ideal candidate will manage contracts, disputes, and compliance while providing legal advice. They should possess an LLB degree and 3-5 years of experience in the legal industry. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in legal industry.
  • Overall understanding of all Acts and Regulations.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of commercial law and litigation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and manage contracts and legal letters.
  • Handle disputes and liability claims.
  • Conduct compliance meetings and risk assessments.
  • Process legal administration and inquiries.
  • Provide regular reports and legal training.

Job description

The Legal Advisor has experience practicing corporate, commercial or regulatory law as in-house counsel, in a law firm or a combination of both. The Legal Advisor is also

responsible for the day to day operation of the function and to ensure compliance of the organization.

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to :

Contract Management
  • Drafting contracts, reviewing contracts, renewal of contracts and legal letters
  • Management of original contracts
  • Registration of contracts
  • Utilization of the Legal Management System
Disputes and Liability Management
  • Manage all disputes, settlement claims and lawsuits and attend all court hearings
  • Management of contingent liability evaluation and reporting
  • Manage all disputes and litigation matters to ensure company interest
  • Assess all contingent liability and report on these to enable financial considerations when budgeting
  • CCMA attendance
Compliance
  • Conduct annual risk assessment for the organization
  • Conduct quarterly compliance meetings with leaders
Administration
  • Legal administration and processing of invoices
  • General legal queries and advice
  • Drafting terms and conditions for competitions
  • Keeping accurate records and filing
  • Manage external legal counsel
Reporting
  • Regular reporting
  • Training for all employees
  • Legal training on legislation for all staff as and when required
  • Full compliance function
Qualifications and Experience :
  • Minimum LLB Degree
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in legal industry
  • Overall understanding of all Acts and Regulations
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of commercial law and litigation
  • Experience in logistics and labour law would be advantageous
