The role involves providing strategic legal advice across multiple divisions, particularly on property acquisitions, disposals, and compliance with legislation. Ideal candidates will possess at least 10 years of experience in the property industry and relevant legal qualifications. Strong negotiation and leadership skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in the Property Industry.
  • Ability to assess and mitigate legal risks.
  • Knowledge of corporate law including Environmental and Competition law.

Responsibilities

  • Providing strategic legal advice on acquisitions and disposals.
  • Preparing agreements for property leasing and development.
  • Conducting due diligence for property acquisitions.
  • Managing competition commission submissions.
  • Initiating and defending litigation claims.

Job Title : Legal AdvisorPurpose of the JobProviding strategic legal advice across multiple divisions / sectors of the business, focusing on acquisitions and disposals of immovable property, leasing, risk management and reviewing and drafting of general legal agreements.Key Performance AreasTo advise the Heads and other staff on the underpinning legislation within the Property Industry and other law affecting the Group.Advise, negotiate, and prepare various agreements relating to the disposal or acquisition of shares or immovable property.Conduct due diligence for property acquisitions, if required, ensuring all legal requirements are met.Assist with the registration of property transactions and manage all related legal documentation.To ensure the effective transfer of ownership in a timeous manner.Advise, negotiate, and prepare agreements relating to the leasing of property within the commercial property sector.Negotiate standard agreements with National tenants.Advise, negotiate, and prepare agreements relating to the development of immovable property, including aspect relating to Environmental and Sustainability law and / or best practice.Advise, negotiate on or prepare agreements relating to joint ventures, co-ownerships and / or partnerships.Advise, negotiate on or prepare agreements relating to Mergers and Acquisitions, Takeovers and corporate restructuring transactions.Advise, negotiate on or prepare agreements relating to banking and financial structuresManage Competition Commission submissions and ensure the accuracy of information as may be contained therein.Work with other departments when required to assist them on implementing systems to ensure the effective and timely operation of the Company's responsibilities under the various bodies of law which affect the Company.To advise across the organisation on the legal effects of legislation.To take part in and facilitate training and education of staff, on relevant legal responsibilities and evidential issuesTo instruct counsel and external legal advisers on matters which require external legal assistance.

  • Initiating, managing, and defending litigation claims on behalf of the organization.

This includes providing legal advice, assessing and mitigating legal risks, ensuring compliance with relevant -laws, and reporting on the status of ongoing cases to senior management.
