About User Experience Design at The Open Window

User Experience Design (UX / UI) is where creativity meets functionality — teaching students how to design meaningful, user‑centred digital products. Through research, testing, and iterative design, students learn to conceptualise, prototype, and deliver impactful experiences across web, mobile, and interactive systems.

As a lecturer, you'll help students merge aesthetic intelligence with problem‑solving, guiding them to design products that are both beautiful and human‑focused.

What You'll Do
  • Teach and mentor undergraduate students in User Experience Design across multiple year levels
  • Guide students through UX processes, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and user testing
  • Develop, refine, and document course content to align with industry standards and emerging trends
  • Provide constructive feedback and continuous support to students
  • Collaborate with fellow lecturers and departments to enrich interdisciplinary learning
  • Contribute to academic and creative initiatives within the School of Creative Technologies
What You Bring
  • A minimum NQF Level 8 qualification (Honours degree or equivalent) in UX Design, Multimedia, or related fields
  • A strong portfolio showcasing UX and UI projects
  • Proficiency in Figma, FigJam, and the Adobe Suite (XD, Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Understanding of user research methods, information architecture, interaction design, and design systems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A passion for mentoring, innovation, and lifelong learning
Bonus points for
  • A Master's degree or teaching qualification
  • Practical experience in HTML / CSS and programming languages
  • Experience in tertiary‑level teaching, curriculum design, or project supervision

Remuneration
  • R per annum (negotiable based on experience and qualifications) Includes employer contribution toward a Retirement Annuity.
