Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Lecturing and Assessment: Deliver engaging lectures and assess students in accordance with the accredited programmes and module requirements.
- Provide timely feedback on assignments, exams, and other assessments to facilitate student learning and growth.
- Learning Management System (LMS): Independently utilise the learning management system and collaborate with colleagues to design, develop, and deliver modules effectively.
- Curriculum Development: Participate in the ongoing development of programmes and curriculum, incorporating current educational trends and best practices.
- Internal Moderation: Undertake assigned internal moderation responsibilities to ensure assessment validity and reliability.
- Assessment Invigilation: Conduct venue-based assessment invigilation as required by the Registrar's Office.
- Academic Support: Provide academic guidance and support to students, addressing their concerns and queries promptly.
- Quality Assurance: Complete all Quality Assurance requirements related to modules and programmes to ensure compliance with academic standards.
- Research and Community Engagement: Engage in research activities and contribute to community projects, fostering a culture of continuous learning and positive societal impact.
- Effective Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with students, colleagues, line managers, and management members.
- Administrative Efficiency: Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and SOPs while maintaining administrative efficiency.
- Participation and Collaboration: Participate in meetings, workshops, and relevant committees as requested by management.
- Administrative Functions: Fulfil administrative duties related to the position as directed by the relevant line manager.
Qualifications and Experience – Senior Lecturer
- At least a Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- PhD in Computer Science or related field (for Senior lecturer).
- Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, AWS, Microsoft Azure, CompTIA Security+, Data Science, Security+) are advantageous.
- Proficiency in networking, systems administration, databases, and software development.
- Strong programming background (Python, Java, C++ or similar) with data science, machine learning, and software engineering exposure.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, cloud computing, IT governance, and applied networks will be highly advantageous.
- Prior teaching experience at a higher education level or professional/industry experience in IT infrastructure and systems.
- Passion for teaching, learning, and developing the next generation of IT professionals.
- Strong technical expertise combined with an applied, industry-oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse student groups.
- Mentorship for research, continuous learning, and staying updated with IT trends.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within academic teams and with industry partners.
- Organised, innovative, and adaptable to a rapidly changing technological landscape.
