Job summary

Stellenbosch University's School of Accountancy on Stellenbosch Campus invites applications for a Lecturer position. The role includes delivering undergraduate/postgraduate modules, contributing to curriculum development, and engaging in research and community impact initiatives.

You will participate in postgraduate supervision and collaborate with SAICA/CIMA/ACCA aligned programmes, supporting scholarly development in a collegial academic environment.

Qualifications

• An appropriate SAICA-accredited honours degree in accounting, or a postgraduate diploma in accounting in the Chartered Accountancy stream.
• Registration as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), or eligibility to register.
• Academic excellence demonstrated by transcripts, master's/PhD or publications.
• Ability to teach and function in a large multilingual work environment.
• Commitment to student success, innovation in teaching and curriculum renewal.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking teaching, learning and assessment activities in undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules. This includes, but is not limited to, curriculum and pedagogical development and improvement, and development of digital learning materials.
• Participating in postgraduate supervision activities and contributing to postgraduate supervision under guidance where appropriate, in accountancy and related research fields.
• Engaging in research and publishing academic work in accountancy and related research fields in reputable popular, academic and peer-reviewed journals.
• Participating in community interaction/social impact initiatives, including involvement in SAICA's Thuthuka project if required.
• Participating in academic administration and internal and/or external service-rendering activities.

Duties/Pligte

• Undertaking teaching, learning and assessment activities in undergraduate and/or postgraduate modules. This includes, but is not limited to, curriculum and pedagogical development and improvement, and development of digital learning materials.
• Participating in postgraduate supervision activities and contributing to postgraduate supervision under guidance where appropriate, in accountancy and related research fields.
• Engaging in research and publishing academic work in accountancy and related research fields in reputable popular, academic and peer-reviewed journals.

• Verrig onderrig-, leer- en assesseringsaktiwiteite in voorgraadse- en/of nagraadse modules. Dit sluit in, maar is nie beperk nie, tot kurrikulum- en pedagogiese ontwikkeling en verbetering, asook die ontwikkeling van digitale leermateriaal.
• Deelname aan nagraadse studieleidingsaktiwiteite en, waar toepaslik, onder leiding tot nagraadse studieleiding in rekeningkunde en verwante navorsingsvelde bydra.
• Doen navorsing en akademiese werk in rekeningkunde en verwante navorsingsvelde in gerekende populêre, akademiese en ewekniebeoordeelde tydskrifte publiseer.
• Aan gemeenskapsinteraksie-/sosiale-impakinisiatiewe deelneem, insluitend betrokkenheid by SAICA se Thuthuka-projek indien vereis.
• Deelname aan akademiese administrasie en interne en/of eksterne diensleweringsaktiwiteite.

• An appropriate SAICA-accredited honours degree in accounting, or a postgraduate diploma in accounting in the Chartered Accountancy stream.
• Registration as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), or eligibility to register.
• Academic excellence, evidenced by a full academic transcript, and/or proven academic research experience, such as a master's degree in an accountancy subject area, a PhD, or publication(s) in DHET-approved journal(s).
