Job summary

The Department of Health, located at Gauteng College of Nursing (Rahima Moosa Campus), invites applications for two Lecturers for the Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery. You will educate and mentor specialist student nurses in both clinical and theoretical settings.

Applicants must hold SANC registration as a professional nurse/midwife, a nursing education qualification, and a Master’s degree in Nursing or Public Health. Closing date is 30 September 2026.

Qualifications

• A Grade 12/National Senior Certificate and SANC registration as a professional nurse/midwife.
• Diploma/Degree in Nursing Education and a Post Basic Diploma in Midwifery/Neonatal Nursing Science.
• Master's degree in Nursing or Public Health; data analysis stage considered.
• Proof of current SANC registration and teaching experience is valued.
• Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; valid driver's license.
• PND1: 4+ years nursing experience; PND2: 14+ years with 10+ years in Nursing Education.

Requirements :

• A Grade 12/ National Senior Certificate. A Basic qualification accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) in terms of government notice R.425 or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Education. Post Basic Diploma in Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science (R.212) registered with SANC. Master's degree in Nursing or Public Health (Applicants who are in the data analysis stage of the research may be considered). Proof of current registration with SANC. Certificate in Assessor and Moderator. Good communication, supervisory, report writing, and presentation skills. Ability to work in a team and under pressure. Computer literacy/ certificate (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). A valid driver's license. PND1 minimum of 4 years of appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after being registered as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur. Diploma/Degree in Nursing Administration and teaching experience in Nursing will be an added advantage. PND2 minimum of 14 years of appropriate/ recognizable nursing experience after being registered as a Professional Nurse and Midwife/ Accoucheur, at least 10 years of the period must be appropriate experience in Nursing Education.

Duties :

• Facilitate the provision of Education and Training of specialist student nurses in both clinical and theory. Guide and support student nurses effectively. Exercise control over specialist student nurses. Implement assessment strategies to determine students’ competency. Support the vision and mission of the college through participation in meetings, committees, and college activities. Participate in Scholarly Research and Community Engagement activities at the college. Participate in curriculum implementation, monitoring, evaluation and review.
