The Department of Statistics and Population Studies, hosted in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, offers leading programmes in the field of Statistics designed to equip and train students for an ever‑changing world of work. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and supportive Department dedicated to teaching and research, as well as to overall student development. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and willing to make a significant contribution to the development of the Department and Faculty.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key areas:
  • Facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics
  • Conduct research and publish on topics related to Statistics/Mathematical Statistics
  • Undertake undergraduate and/or postgraduate supervision
  • Provide academic leadership and contribute to administration
  • Undertake curriculum development and assessment
  • Participate in community/industry engagement and outreach
Minimum Requirements
  • Masters in Statistics or Mathematical Statistics and registrered for a PhD with a clear plan for completion
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate, in the field of Statistics
  • Proven expertise in applying complex statistical techniques in statistical packages such as SAS, R and/or Python
  • A record of successful postgraduate supervision at the honours
  • A record of quality peer reviewed publications, in the field of Statistics, Applied Statistics or proof of peer reviewed technical reports submitted in industry
