Qualifications

• PhD in Food Science or related field with specialization in food microbiology, food safety, or food hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to curriculum development and review, including module content design, assessment strategies, and evaluation of student learning in undergraduate Food Science modules.
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across Food Science disciplines as required.
• Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning approaches to enhance student engagement and academic outcomes.
• Prepare and update module content and assessment materials, including outlines, lecture materials, assignments, and resources.
• Assess and grade student coursework, provide constructive feedback.
• Consult with students regarding module content and expectations.
• Guide and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students on projects.
• Supervise and co-supervise master's and doctoral students.
• Develop and grow an active, independent research programme aligned with departmental priorities.
• Publish research outcomes in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Identify and apply for external research funding and manage funded projects.
• Develop and maintain national research and industry partnerships.
• Contribute to academic administration and service delivery at departmental and Faculty level.
• Participate in community engagement and outreach activities.

• Contribute to curriculum development and review, including module content design, assessment strategies, and evaluation of student learning in undergraduate Food Science modules (including Nutrition for the Food Scientist, Food Processing and Preservation, and Food Safety Practices and Control Systems)
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across Food Science disciplines as required
• Develop and implement innovative teaching and learning approaches to enhance student engagement and academic outcomes
• Prepare and update module content and assessment materials, including module outlines, lecture materials, assignments, and supporting learning resources
• Assess and grade student coursework, assignments, tests and examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Consult with students regarding module content, academic expectations, and concerns
• Guide and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students on individual and group projects
