Job summary

A dedicated environmental organization in Cape Town is seeking a Learning Officer to assist with the administration and implementation of educational and capacity building programs promoting environmental behavior change. Job Description

The Learning and Awareness component aims to support and implement education, capacity building and awareness programmes that promote positive environmental behavior change. The component seeks to appoint a Learning Officer that will assist with the administration and implementation of these programmes.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with procurement duties for the Learning & Awareness Component
  • Assist with the development of projects, programmes and resources for education, awareness and capacity building programmes
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and facilitation of events in and for the entity (biodiversity calendar days, Cubs Club event, campaigns etc.)
  • Contribute to planning and coordinate meetings / forums and training events
  • Support the implementation of assessments including data capture and coordination
  • Effect the administration of the learning and awareness component (transportation, accommodation, assets – resources, photographs etc.)
  • Maintain effective communication with relevant internal and external stakeholders (act as a point of contact and manage the components generic email account)
REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or Diploma in Public Relations Management, Communications, Education, Administration or Nature Conservation
  • Ability to write and communicate in English and at least one of the other two of the Western Cape official languages (Afrikaans or isiXhosa)
  • Ability to work both alone and as part of a team
  • Computer literacy with a solid knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and platforms such as MsTeams
  • Possession of a valid South African ID document and drivers' license, including proven recent driving experience (at least one year driving daily, no longer than 3 months ago)
  • Strong administrative, organising and coordination skills
RECOMMENDATIONS
  • Accountancy or mathematics at matric level
  • Experience with procurement processes in a government setting
  • Administrative skills experience
  • Environmental Education experience
  • Experience in running an environmental Club
  • Event coordination and / or environmental education experience will be advantageous
  • A passion for Environmental Education and Communications with a drive to follow a career in this direction
