Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist in Midrand, Johannesburg. The role involves facilitating organisational compliance with learning governance, conducting skills assessments, and designing effective learning solutions. Candidates should have a relevant HR qualification, preferred SDF certification, and at least 3 years of experience in Learning and Development within the Retail, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or Wholesale sectors. Qualifications

Job description

Our client in the Pharmaceutical industry is currently looking for a Learning and Development Specialist, in Midrand, Johannesburg.

Retail Industry.

The legislation and governing bodies that governs learning and development activities which include (but is not limited to) ETQA, QCTO, SETAs and BBBEE compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Learning Governance : Facilitate organisational and / or business unit compliance with the L&D governance framework and related policies. Educate relevant stakeholders (both internal and external) on the L&D governance framework, related policies, processes and procedures. Contribute to the continued refinement of the L&D governance framework, policies, processes and procedures.
  • Learning Needs Analysis : Facilitate the annual assessment of organisational / business unit skills development needs through the execution of the L&D Needs Analysis process, proactive engagement with relevant stakeholders and the provision of the necessary expert advice, guidance and support. Validate the development needs identified by the organisation / business unit and ensure that identified development needs support career development, succession planning, talent development and leadership development (current and future) needs. Monitor and evaluate the quality of the learning needs analysis process and use related insights to ensure continuous improvement of said process.
  • Learning Solution Design and Development : Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear and measurable learning objectives, outcomes, performance criteria and success measures for learning solutions. Provide expert advice and guidance to relevant stakeholders regarding the selection of fit-for-purpose learning solutions that will address identified development needs within budget, resource and operating parameters. Facilitate the sourcing and matching of suitable learning solutions by conducting research and making recommendations about the learning solution that would best address the identified development needs. Evaluate existing learning solutions and related resources for relevance and effectiveness as per the organisational L&D Quality Management guidelines. Partner with internal and external providers / vendors to design learning solutions that align with organisational capability needs and strategy. Monitor and evaluate the quality of learning solution design by both internal and external providers / vendors and use related insights to ensure continuous improvement of learning solution design.
  • Learning Delivery : Manage the implementation of learning solutions and ensure efficient, cost-effective adherence to policies and budgets. Facilitate the implementation of Learnerships, Internships And Graduate programmes for the organisation / business unit. Monitor and track adherence to L&D work-back obligations and related processes for Internships, Learnerships and Graduate programmes. Partner with Learning Administrators to ensure the successful coordination and delivery of all training related logistics and resources for delegates who attend training. Monitor and evaluate the quality of learning delivery by both internal and external providers / vendors and use related insights to ensure continuous improvement of learning delivery.
  • Learning Evaluation : Design and implement evaluation strategies, including (but not limited to) knowledge assessments, surveys, and performance metrics, to measure the effectiveness of learning courses and programmes. Analyse the evaluation data collected and assess the impact of learning interventions on key performance indicators (KPIs) and business outcomes. Prepare and present reports to stakeholders, providing insights into the ROI of earmarked learning initiatives and make recommendations for improvement. Identify opportunities to optimise learning and development governance, policies and processes as an outcome of evaluation data insights.
  • Stakeholder Management : Develop collaborative partnerships with relevant stakeholders throughout the business to facilitate and enable the growth and strategic objectives of the organisation / business unit. Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders through consultation and understanding their requirements and accommodating needs. Ensure stakeholders (HR and Business Subject Matter Experts) have the knowledge and skills needed to deliver on the organisation's / business units' learning plan.
  • Reporting & Compliance : Quality assure training information captured for SETA, BBBEE and other compliance reports. Build strong relationship with the Organisation Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) to ensure continued organisational compliance to legislative requirements. Oversee the administration of Learnerships, Internships and Graduate programmes in the organisation to ensure compliance with SETA requirements. Consolidate and submit comprehensive monthly training reports to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Continued Professional Development : Actively engage in ongoing learning and professional development activities to stay abreast of L&D industry trends, best practices, legislation and emerging technologies. Identify and pursue opportunities for personal skill development and growth to enhance performance in current role and prepare for future career advancement. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning within the organisation. Keep up to date with issues and concerns in HR (more specifically change management and learning and development strategies), thereby maintaining your status as a recognised expert in talent and organisational development.
  • General : Adhere to Policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations. Understand fundamental learning theories that drive the L&D value chain.
