Job summary

Absa is seeking a Lead UPF Application Developer to join the Switch Payments Engineering team in a high‑availability environment. The role focuses on designing, implementing and supporting UPF applications with BASE24 EPS/Classic, ISO messaging and cloud‑based solutions.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in payments, strong Java/C#/C/C++, and experience with API‑led development, cloud platforms, and PCI‑DSS‑related considerations. COBOL knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in payments software, with mission‑critical delivery.
• Strong experience with BASE24-EPS and ISO messaging standards.
• Proven ability to design, implement, test and support UPF components.
• Experience with API-led integration and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy UPF components across BASE24 environments.
• Maintain payment logic, ensure scheme and SLA compliance.
• Lead API‑led development and cloud deployments.
• Collaborate across teams for secure, scalable solutions.
