Job summary

A leading company in the heavy vehicle industry is seeking a hands-on, technically strong Quality Controller to join their Workshop team. The role involves leading and mentoring technicians, ensuring productive output, and driving quality improvements. Candidates must have a trade qualification as an Auto Electrician or Diesel Mechanic, with at least 5 years’ experience in the commercial vehicle sector. Strong leadership and technical skills are essential for this position focused on maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the heavy commercial vehicle industry.
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a workshop environment.
  • Computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of workshop technicians.
  • Monitor technician hours and ensure efficient, productive output.
  • Drive productivity to achieve sold hours targets.
  • Reduce rectifications/reworks through continuous quality improvement.
  • Conduct ad-hoc inspections and consolidate quality reports.
  • Manage and action reports from the Department of Transport.
  • Oversee planning, workshop loading, and workflow.
  • Supervise and coordinate staff training and technical development.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety & Environmental standards.
  • Drive WIP daily and streamline throughput processes.
