You will employ molecular markers and genomics, manage seed production, and collaborate with breeders, agronomists, pathologists, and geneticists to advance varieties and support food security in South Africa.

Qualifications

• PhD in Plant Breeding, Genetics or closely related field.
• Minimum of 8 years in plant breeding with proven track record.
• Proficiency in quantitative genetics, statistics and breeding methods.
• Experience with field crops in the South African context.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement plant breeding programs for key field crops.
• Utilize traditional breeding with genomic and MAS techniques.
• Conduct field trials, evaluate lines, and select superior genotypes.
• Manage seed production and maintenance of elite lines.
• Collaborate with geneticists, agronomists, pathologists and others to meet objectives.
• Analyze phenotypic and genotypic data to guide decisions.
